The Office of the Secretary (OS) in the Department of the Interior has an extremely broad and varied mission. The Immediate Office of the Secretary, which includes the Secretary, Chief of Staff, and other senior-level advisors and officers, manages the Department's overarching policy positions and strategic coordination.
Most of Office of the Secretary falls under the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management, and Budget (AS-PMB). The AS-PMB covers six key areas: policy & environmental management; budget, finance, grants & acquisition; human capital; administrative services; public safety, resource protection and emergency services; and natural resources revenue management.
The Office of the Secretary includes the Immediate Office of the Secretary, certain secretarial officers, designated staff immediately serving those officials and offices which serve department-wide functions or perform program functions directly on behalf of the Secretary.
